Out and About at Art Hill
New Parent Rule No. 1: Get out of the house. It doesn’t matter that the baby is fussy, that you look like a zombie or that packing for an outing is a hassle. You. Must. Get. Out. Of. The. House.
Ben and I are learning to be out and about with the kid. Of course, restaurant dining is still intimidating, but that’s why we ordered takeout one beautiful StL evening and headed over to Art Hill in Forest Park.
Amir did well and was distracted by the sights and sounds long enough for his parents to eat. And then it was his turn to eat, at which point I covered up to nurse him.
It was a wonderful evening, even during Little Man’s short crying bouts. For baby and parents, fresh air is very necessary.

Sep 2, 10 at 5:03 pmGetting out of the house is DEFINITELY something needed for everyone. When Sean was a newborn, we went for daily walks in the park near our house. He could be screaming his head off in the house, but as soon as we stepped outside? Silence. The leaves especially fascinated him.
I have no idea what I’m going to do when No.2 rolls around in December. I’m hoping the weather is nice to me and we can still take outdoor walks!
